Your college essay
Many of you will be required to submit one or more essays with your college and scholarship applications. The essay is a crucial piece of your application, so every ounce of energy you put into it will pay off. Below are some links to help you get started.
Essays That Worked. This information is from Connecticut College and their web site. You can get a good idea of what colleges are looking for as these students were admitted.
Essays from your activities. This handout will help you examine your participation in activities and how to maximize your experience through an essay.
What admission counselors look for. This handout contains quotes from these individuals in terms of what they like and don’t like on applications and in essays.
How you can contribute to the campus community. This is one of the questions that many colleges are asking - how will you contribute to the campus. This can be daunting but after a little analysis of your past 3+ years, you should be able to show how you will.

Welcome to the Class of 2008
We will be using this page of the Stanton Web Site exclusively this year to provide all of the information you will need for a successful transition from Stanton to your college. Please check back to this site regularly so that you will not miss out on any opportunities. An easy way to be notified of any updates is through an RSS feed. This is fancy language that means that your web browser (either Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox) will create a favorite category called “Feeds” and will keep track of each time we post something new to this site. Mozilla Thunderbird, an email managment program similiar to Outlook, has a category for RSS feeds and will automatically upload any new messages from this site. If you have any questions on setting up an RSS feed, please send an email to turbab@dreamsbeginhere.org
